Cookeville Urgent Care Blog
We would like to extend a warm welcome to the newest addition to our TEAM, Cynthia Folyer MSN, FNP-BC, APN.
Originally from Wisconsin, I have called middle Tennessee my home for the last twenty years. The beautiful hills, trees, lakes and waterfalls remind me of the area where my grandparents were raised. The amazing, breathtaking views of the Smoky Mountains make them a favorite get away retreat for us.
I have been interested in nursing much of my life, and decided to pursue my first degree because I sincerely wanted to be able to help our hurting world.
I went to Tennessee Technological University to get my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. While going to school, I spent time working with the elderly and developed a love and respect for them, enjoying their reminiscences of days gone by. As part of my education, I had the opportunity of precepting under a nurse practitioner at a local rural health clinic. I realized then that I wanted to become a nurse practitioner providing quality, caring healthcare in a family practice setting. My advisors encouraged me to “get some experience” as a registered nurse first, and their advice proved to be very beneficial for me on my path of life. My nursing experience includes general medical care, case management, and several years as an intensive care unit nurse. I have had some interesting and exciting experiences along the way, and have met some wonderful people. I later continued my education through TTU, graduating with my Masters of Science in Nursing. I have enjoyed providing health in a family practice setting since then. I enjoy meeting people and working with them regarding their health care issues, as well as all aspects of life.
I enjoy traveling and hope to see Europe some day. My other interests include getting together with family and friends, baking, gardening and riding on the back of our Harley!
